LOW POROSITY
Low porosity hair requires special care when it comes to moisturizing, as the hair cuticles are tightly closed and can make it difficult for moisture to penetrate. As a general guideline, you should aim to moisturize low porosity hair every 2-3 days, or as needed based on how your hair feels. Low porosity hair needs heat so that moisture can penetrate the hair shaft and stay locked in.
* Spray water or your favorite liquid leave-in conditioner on hair and seal it with Oil.
* Use shower cap and bonnet to cover your hair after you’ve moisturized it for 30 minutes or longer to locked in moisture.
MEDIUM POROSITY
Medium porosity hair is most ideal since moisture is able to penetrate but doesn’t easily escape. This means that your hair is not only able to take in moisture, but it can hold it in longer. Essentially, it’s the best of both worlds.
Ideally, you want to find the right balance of moisture when you have medium porosity hair.
You can do things such as:
* Applying water or liquid leave-in conditioner spray
* Applying oil to seal in the moisture
HIGH POROSITY
If you have high porosity hair, the cuticles are likely to be raised or lifted. This incredible quality of your hair enables it to absorb moisture quickly and efficiently but unfortunately also means that moisture is lost as rapidly. Think of high porosity hair as a sponge, it soaks up everything around it, whether it be water or product. That’s why The LOC method works best for high porosity hair.
